My Top 5 Regrets After Writing On Medium For 2 Years
# Some Mistakes For New Writers To Not Make
First, some background about me as a writer on Medium.
I started writing on Medium somewhere in August 2021. My content was mainly about Python programming (sometimes web dev), and to be honest, I started writing because I thought:
I’ll probably seem more credible to prospective Python students if I’ve written some stuff on Medium
How much I made in my 1st+2nd month on Medium — $1
How much I make now — enough to cover my house’s utility bill. Which isn’t an amount where I can do Medium full time, but it’s a nice to have.
Looking back, like we all do, I’ve made mistakes and had regrets about the earlier part of my Medium journey. Here are my top 5 regrets:
1) Not starting earlier
Cliche. But true.
I wish I started writing in my 1st year of university back in 2017 (instead of after graduation in 2021). The compound interest of writing consistently on Medium is very real. Not just in monthly Medium earnings — having a kinda decent blog helped a tonne with my personal brand, career prospects and so on.
