A Student Once Tried To Trick Me Into Doing His Exam For Him

Sometime in 2021, a student reached out to me. He was taking a basic Python course in university, and was kinda struggling. And he had an exam in 2 weeks.

And so, I scheduled some practice sessions with him.

The Exam + Mock Exam

This student then informed me that he had an upcoming Python coding exam (online), and that there was a mock exam exactly one week before.

Analogy: (dates are fictional cus I forgot exactly when)

• Mock exam on thursday 1 July 2021, 2pm-4pm
• Actual exam on thursday 8 July 2021, 2pm-4pm

So the Mock and Actual exams are exactly 1 week apart, and had the same exact timeslot. (You probably know where this is going)

Can you guide me for the mock exam?

I didn’t think too much about it, and said ‘sure man’

But some red flags:

• the mock exam’s start time was surprisingly strict
• I had another student from the same school having an actual Python coding exam at this exact time
• university classes don’t usually…
