7 Goals I Had (As A Student) I Now Think Are A Waste Of Time
I’m nearing 30 soon (holy moly) and as with most people, my world views, mindsets and motivators has changed over the years.
I graduated from university in 2021 with a Bachelors of Science in Information Systems, and it’s been 4 years since. Looking back into my university days, I had some goals that current me would classify as a waste of time.
Future me might think slightly differently, I don’t know. But here are 7 goals I used to have as a student that I now think are a waste of time.
1) Aiming to earn more money by winning more hackathons
My first hackathon won my $2000 by some stroke of luck. After seeing $2000 go into my tiny student bank account, past me really wanted to win more hackathons so that I could earn more money.
I find this goal to now be a waste of time because:
- money we earn from hackathons are insignificant later in life
- money can be earned later
- It’ll probably be better if we went in with the mindset of wanting to learn and make connections…
